Cottam power station is a 2000MW coal-fired power station with a production capacity of up to 4% of the UK market. The station sits on the West Bank of the River Trent, about eight miles from the market town of Retford. West Burton coal-fired power station can produce enough electricity - 2,000 megawatts - to meet the needs of around two million people.
