More about Affiliate Membership

The UKQAA has introduced a new category of membership from December 2005. Since the formation of the UKQAA in 1997, there have been two categories of membership, full and associate membership. Full members are the major funding source for the association and have ultimate responsibility for the operation of the association. Associate members are users of PFA and FBA who have an interest in the industry receiving most of the benefits of the full members without the right to vote.

Using fly ash
More recently it has been decided that a third category of membership should be introduced, called affiliate membership for corporate companies.
Affiliate members will receive a quarterly newsletter updating them on issues within and affecting the ash industry. This newsletter will contain information on both National and European standardisation issues, environmental aspects, EU directives and laws affecting the industry, presentations, conferences, seminars, etc that the UKQAA are involved with. Affiliate members primary company name and address plus a web site link will be placed on the UKQAA web site. Information of interest will be sent regularly by e-mail to a nominated representative as and when it's appropriate. The views of affiliate members may also be sort on issues that may affect them.

Affiliate membership gives the member to right to use the UKQAA logo on their web site and publications for the year they are members. The logo is dated and applies from 1 July to 30 June of the following year, the UKQAA financial year. A fee of £500+VAT per annum is payable and gives a single named representative the right to attendance at the AGM in a non-voting capacity. This new category of membership will start from 1 January 2006 and will run to 1 July 2006 for £250 for the 6 month period. Thereafter membership fees will be due on the 1 July 2006 and every 1 July following. A minimum of 3 months notice of resignation will be required, though reminders will be sent prior to the year end. Membership fees will be reduced pro-rata on a quarterly basis for company's joining at other times than during July.
This category of membership is aimed at smaller companies or companies with a limited interest in ash but with some form of connection to the ash industry e.g. grouting and civil engineering contractors, material processors, hauliers, etc. It is NOT designed as personal membership category.
