CEMEX UK Cement Ltd, are the major suppliers of quality assured fly ash and cement within the UK. They were the first to obtain the coveted BSI kitemark licence for BS3892: Part 1 specification for PFA for use as a cementitious component in structural concrete and more recently supply CE marked ash to BS EN450-1:2005. Uskmouth Power Company Limited operates the 360 MW Uskmouth Power Station at Newport in South Wales for Carron Energy Limited, a privately owned and UK based power company. The power station produces approximately 100,000 tonnes of PFA and 10,000 tonnes of FBA per year, which is currently supplied, via Hargreaves Coal Combustion Products Ltd (who provide a full ash management and marketing service for the station) into the engineering, land reclamation, block-making and grouting markets. EDF Energy operate two coal fired power stations at Cottam and West Burton. Cottam power station is a 2000MW coal-fired power station with a production capacity of up to 4% of the UK market. The station sits on the West Bank of the River Trent, about eight miles from the market town of Retford. West Burton coal-fired power station can produce enough electricity - 2,000 megawatts - to meet the needs of around two million people.
