Tarmac Topblock produces the most comprehensive product range of any UK building block manufacturer, including dense, lightweight and aircrete concrete blocks. Its HEMELITE range of lightweight blocks and coursing bricks are manufactured using at least 50% of by-product materials by volume, most commonly furnace bottom ash, and account for as much as a quarter of its overall annual production. HEMELITE products are BSI Kitemarked to BS 6073 and manufactured under a Quality Assurance Scheme complying with BS EN 9002. Their use can contribute towards an Environmental Standards award for buildings such as BREEAM Assessment Method which encourages the use of products made with waste or by-products materials. Walls and floors which incorporate HEMELITE blocks in a significant proportion (over 50%) of the wall and/or flooring qualify towards this award.
